According to the report, unlike in the past, the National Assembly is very porous and the security situation is nothing to write home about.
Most worrisome is that all manner of people enter the National Assembly at any time unchecked, the report claimed.
At the main entrance gate, there are policemen with gadgets which the report states their functionality cannot be guaranteed.
An insider quoted in the report on the condition of anonymity, stated that some times, the gadgets do not work, adding that the police officers only use it as a camouflage to give people the notion that they are working.
Also, both the police officers and the sergeants- at-arms are said to now allow unauthorised persons to go into the National Assembly premises, where they now move from office to office, seeking for one form of favour or the other from lawmakers.
As a result , many lawmakers are said to be living in fear as their security is no longer guaranteed because unknown persons now have access to them.
A lawmaker lamented about the mental and psychological torture they pass through on daily basis in the hands of people he described as “professional beggars in executive attires.”
He said: “The system is so frustrating. What we pass through here every single day we come to work is unimaginable.
“The National Assembly has become a centre for vagabonds, fugitives and hooligans.
“Imagine a situation people who don’t even know your name will come knocking at your door, and begin to tell you all manner of stories and eventually end up asking for assistance.
